Building or Floor Evacuation
|

|
Building or floor evacuations will either occur as a result of automatic fire alarms or overhead public address communications when conditions warrant. It is the policy of CBRE to consult with local authorities prior to evacuating floors or buildings. CBRE will communicate with each tenant (if affected by evacuation), explaining the circumstances and in most cases leave this decision to evacuate to each tenant.
If conditions escalate, warranting a mandatory evacuation, CBRE will direct this action and administrate an orderly evacuation of the building. It is their responsibility of each employee to be familiar with the evacuation plans. It is also the responsibility of each employee to know their company's tenant warden(s) as well as their alternates. Each employee should be familiar with the locations of the stairwells and procedures of evacuating any handicapped employees or visitors.
Do: 1. Follow instructions of your company's tenant warden. 2. Close the door to your office as you leave. 3. Form evacuation line - two abreast. 4. Use the enclosed stairwell for evacuation. There are two stairwells in The Colonnade - know their locations. 5. Keep talking to a minimum. 6. No smoking. 7. Use handrails in enclosed stairwells. 8. Listen for instructions and follow them. 9. Keep calm. 10. Be ready to merge with other people evacuating the building. 11. The method for evacuation of handicapped individuals will be determined by the tenant warden. 12. Watch for the Golden Valley Fire Department ascending the stairwells in the event of an emergency.
Don't: 1. Do not go to the elevators - they may not respond and you do not want to risk using the elevator even if they do. 2. Once you have left your area, do not return for coats, purses, etc. 3. Do not run or create panic. 4. Do not return to the office until the building authority gives an "ALL CLEAR".
In the event of an evacuation during the winter or other extreme weather conditions, Allianz Life, Golden Hills Office Center, and The Metropolitan have agreed to allow Colonnade occupants to seek shelter within their buildings. Please confirm your company's designated inclement weather shelter location.
